General Information Notices distributed to all residents informing of the
McAllen Housing Facility Corporation pursuit to apply for Housing Tax Credits for the renevations of the Orchid Place Apartments and the temporary relocation of residents.
February 27th, 2026
Application submitted to Texas Department of Housing and Community
Affairs for the award of Housing Tax Credits for the acquisition and rehabilitation of the Orchid Place Apartments
July 23rd, 2026
The application for Orchid Place Apartments was approved and awarded $2
Million in Housing Tax Credits.
September 1-30, 2026
Surveys to be conducted to determine household sizes and needs for
relocation assistance.
September TBD, 2026
Meeting to inform all residents of timeline for move-outs and rehab of
all units. Individual meetings scheduled with each household to determine eligibility. Notice of
Eligibility and 90-Day Notices to be sent.
January, 2027
Renovation work begins. Determination if the work can be done in phases is still
ongoing. * If the project is not able to be done in phases, all tenants will be required to move
from the property. For those eligible, the relocation will be less than 12 months.
March, 2028
Construction work completed if property renovation work is done in three phases.
